Men on the Side of the Road (MSR) is a non-profit organisation that seeks to bridge the gap between the growing economy and unemployed people with skills. The essence of our activities is to increase the ability of people to earn a sustainable income.

Our nationwide network assesses the members skills, implements training where possible, and provides mentored work opportunities in focused teams. The goal is to help members find and maintain long term, sustainable employment.

The service we provide was free to our members and to the public. We are currently testing a fee based service in Cape Town and hope eventually to be able to cover the bulk of our costs through the fee based service. For the time being we continue to rely on the generosity of government, corporate South Africa, and local and international donors.

MSR provides a unified voice for our member's skill in the market place through our communication with contractors, employers, government, the public and the media. Our Worker for a Day campaigns held in corporate companies have helped create awareness of our members' needs and what they have to offer.

To date MSR has helped tens of thousands of people find work. We have facilitated the training of thousands of members, providing them with skills that will help them forever. We have brought dignity and pride to the destitute, and our endeavours benefit more than just our members - they affect their families and dependents too.
